You will hardly believe how close The Loft in Popeshead Court is to all the attractions that York City Centre has to offer. The Minster, which you can see from The Loft windows is a five minute walk away, the Shambles, perhaps York's most famous medieval street is 2 minutes walk from Popeshead Court, Parliament Street is on the doorstep and is often the hub of the city with its Continental markets and street entertainment. York Opera House is no more than three or four minutes away for Theatre lovers or stroll to the riverbank and take a river cruise or rent a boat and explore York from the water. Despite this excellent and enviable location, the Loft Apartment itself is very private, calm and quiet as it is tucked away from the bustling city amongst the famous snickleways of York on Peter Lane.
The Loft apartment is in Popeshead Court, situated at the end of Peter Lane, a cul-de-sac "snickleway" in the city centre. Peter Lane is located off Market Street and can also be reached on foot through alleyways from High Ousegate.
Railway: York Rail Station 0.6 mile.
The property is a 5-10 minute walk or short taxi ride from York Train Station.
Parking and vehicle access:
The very central location of The Loft means you are not able to park at the apartment. York City centre apartments often do not have parking. There are many car parks where overnight parking is available. The cheapest carpark is the York Commuter Car Park www.apcoa.co.uk/carparks/york-commuter
The Loft Apartment is located within a pedestrian zone where "Foot-street hours" operate for loading and unloading. You are free to
drive into the centre and park outside to load and unload before 10.30am and after 5pm every day.
Due to the one-way system vehicles should approach down Parliament Street, turn right into High Ousegate (before the church), at the end turn right into Spurriergate and then first right into Market Street. You can park up on the right hand side of Market Street to unload or, if you like, drive (perhaps better to reverse) down Peter Lane itself. You will see this is quite narrow.
A car is not necessary while staying in York as it is a small city and you are close to the centre.
Shopping for groceries:
There are several small supermarkets close by and larger ones a short drive or 12 minutes walk away. The market is steps away where you can buy anything from strawberries and asparagus to shoes and tools! Bakeries on are every corner and Costa Coffee is so close you can almost smell it! ( it takes about 45 seconds to get there...I have timed it!)
